Here at Pediatric Dental Specialists of Western Colorado in Fruita and Montrose, we provide general anesthesia for our dental patients when necessary.
General anesthesia may be considered for your child’s dental procedure if extensive or complicated dental work needs to be performed, often taking several hours or having one procedure after another. Procedures done under general anesthesia are always performed in an operating room for proper and thorough monitoring of your child. A pediatric anesthesiologist, a medical doctor specialized in administering anesthesia for children, will give your child medications that will make him or her sleep soundly during the procedure. The pediatric anesthesiologist will stay present during the procedure and closely monitor all vital signs and other key factors of your child’s wellbeing.
General anesthesia will let your child’s whole body relax to the point that his or her reflexes will be completely relaxed. Your child will feel no pain during the procedure and likely will have no memory of it.
The caring Team of professionals at Pediatric Dental Specialists of Western Colorado are dedicated to ensuring your child’s visit is as comfortable as possible. If a dental procedure is being considered for your child, sedation options will be thoroughly discussed with you and any questions you have resolved prior to the start of your care.
